Russians assume that actress Chulpan Khamatova and singer Boris Grebenshchikov (included in the list of foreign agents by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation) will not be invited to the Victory Parade either.

Which artists were suspected of disrespecting the Victory Parade

In comments online, viewers expressed the opinion that almost all foreign agent celebrities who supported Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not honor the “memory of their ancestors” and do not respect the events held in honor of Victory Day. Russians recalled the words of actor Alexei Panin , who called Russians “cattle” and admitted that he did not want to have anything in common with his former compatriots. In 2022, Panin called the ceremonial events on the occasion of May 9 in Russia “pathos” and “show-off” and declared that they were unnecessary.

Many recalled the scandalous interview of rapper Alisher Morgenstern (included in the list of foreign agents by the Russian Ministry of Justice) to journalist Ksenia Sobchak, in which he said that “the Russian Federation has nothing to be proud of” and that “he does not understand the celebration of May 9 and the scope with which it is celebrated.”

Commentators also noted TV presenter Tatyana Lazareva (listed as a foreign agent by the Russian Ministry of Justice) for her words that she “rejoices at the bombing of Russian cities.” Former member of the group “Nogu Svelo!” Maxim Pokrovsky (listed as a foreign agent by the Russian Ministry of Justice) and the leader of the group “Bi-2” Leva Bi-2 (real name – Yegor Bortnik, listed as a foreign agent by the Russian Ministry of Justice) also openly expressed support for Ukraine and made anti-Russian statements.

Which artists have spoken out against the Victory Parade before?

In 2021, some Russian artists published posts on social networks criticizing Victory Day and the Immortal Regiment.

Thus, People’s Artist of Russia Dmitry Nazarov read his poems criticizing the Victory Day celebrations on social networks. He called the celebrations “a parade of impotence and prohibitions.” In his opinion, the money spent on the celebrations could have been used to gasify veterans’ homes and install running water for them.

TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak admitted that when Moscow streets are closed in preparation for the Victory Parade, she “experiences strange feelings.” She also called May 9 “a day of remembrance and sorrow,” rather than a holiday for demonstrating weapons.

Actor Maxim Vitorgan had earlier angered his followers with a post stating that “there is nothing to celebrate” on Victory Day. The artist called for abandoning noisy celebrations and “dancing with tanks” and making May 9 a “day of silence and sorrow.”

Actor Mikhail Shirvindt also joined his words. In his Telegram channel, he called May 9 not a solemn date, but a day of remembrance for the events that took millions of lives. He considered the demonstration of military equipment and patriotic symbols on the streets inappropriate.

“When I see these idiotic car stickers, don’t the old men turn over in their graves? I also find it strange that there are parades: tanks, aircraft, missiles. Actually, it’s a day of silence,” Shirvindt wrote.
